In person Position Summary CyberTex Institute of Technology is seeking an experienced, dependable, and student-focused HVAC Program Director to provide academic, instructional, administrative, and compliance leadership for the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration program. The Program Director will oversee program operations, instructional delivery, faculty support, student progress, lab readiness, curriculum implementation, program documentation, student retention, and continuous program improvement. The ideal candidate will have strong HVAC industry knowledge, leadership ability, instructional experience, documentation discipline, and a commitment to student success and workforce readiness. Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight for the HVAC program , including classroom instruction, lab training, student progress, faculty performance, equipment readiness, and program operations.
  • Ensure the program is delivered in accordance with the approved curriculum, syllabi, lesson plans, course outlines, institutional policies, and regulatory requirements .
  • Supervise, support, mentor, and evaluate HVAC instructors to promote instructional quality, professional conduct, classroom management, and compliance.
  • Assist with the development, review, and improvement of the HVAC program , including instructional sequencing, course objectives, lab activities, projects, and assessments.
  • Teach assigned HVAC courses, as needed, and ensure instruction supports student competency development and career readiness.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain course syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, projects, examinations, lab activities, and instructional materials .
  • Coordinate classroom and lab readiness before each new course, phase, or class start, including tools, equipment, materials, projects, assignments, and safety resources.
  • Monitor and document student attendance, grades, academic progress, lab performance, professionalism, tutoring, remediation, and retention risk .
  • Provide or coordinate student advising, tutoring, remediation, and academic support for students who are struggling or at risk of withdrawal.
  • Enforce classroom management standards, lab safety rules, institutional policies, and the student code of conduct.
  • Communicate program supply, equipment, staffing, scheduling, and instructional resource needs to campus leadership.
  • Support student retention, completion, graduation readiness, employment preparation, and career readiness in coordination with school personnel.
  • Support program-related compliance, accreditation, licensing, audit readiness, advisory committee, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, staff meetings, advisory committee meetings, professional development, graduation ceremonies, student events, and institutional activities as assigned. Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of practical HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, or related skilled-trades experience within the last 5 years preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience in HVAC, skilled trades, technical education, or postsecondary education is preferred.
  • Prior management, supervisory, lead instructor, program coordination, or academic leadership experience is preferred.
  • Experience overseeing faculty, supporting student outcomes, managing program documentation, monitoring compliance expectations, and coordinating day-to-day program operations is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration principles, electrical controls, troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, safety practices, tools, equipment, and industry standards .
  • Ability to lead faculty and oversee both classroom-based instruction and hands-on laboratory training .
  • Relevant HVAC certification, EPA Section 608 certification , NATE certification, OSHA training, or other related credential is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, documentation, professionalism, and follow-up skills required.
  • Ability to work professionally with students, faculty, staff, administration, employers, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, sound judgment, integrity, and commitment to student success.
