Bachelor's Degree. Experience advising fraternities and sororities communities on a college campus or related responsibilities. Experience working with students, volunteers, and/or staff of any member organizations within the IFC, NPC, and NPHC, and MGC umbrella organizations. Ability to understand and interpret university and fraternity and sorority policies and procedures. Ability to work effectively in crisis management type situations; knowledge of risk management as it relates to event planning. Ability to establish collaborations with university departments, members of the local community and fraternity/sorority stakeholders such as alumni, advisors, and Inter/National partners. Experience in event planning and program management. Experience conducting workshops or training sessions for students and/or faculty and staff. Ability to coordinate a variety of work activities and work as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft office software web-based communication. Availability to work evenings and/or weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Student Affairs or related field. Experience with fraternity and sorority recruitment and membership intake with data management experience utilizing recruitment technology. Membership in a national fraternity or sorority. Knowledge of current student development theory topics in higher education, particularly as they relate to fraternities and sororities and retention programs. Proficiency in the use of social media, as it related to the delivery of programs and services in higher education.
Job Description:
The Coordinator for Fraternity & Sorority Life as a member of the Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) unit of Student Involvement & Engagement, leads core programmatic efforts that support the fraternity and sorority community. The Coordinator advises one to two of the four FSL governing councils: Interfraternity Council (IFC), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), National Pan- Hellenic Council (NPHC) or Panhellenic Council (PHC). The Coordinator, with the Associate Director for Fraternity & Sorority Life, coordinates engagement, outreach, and assessment initiatives designed to strengthen the fraternity and sorority community and advance the goals and strategic priorities outline of Division of Student Success and Texas State University.
Job Duties:
Advise assigned fraternity and sorority life governing councils by facilitating meetings with chapter leaders, supporting event planning and program management efforts, traveling to conferences, and navigating organizational operations. Manage Fraternity & Sorority Life office website and social media platforms ensuring alignment with institutional branding, accessibility standards, and communication priorities Facilitate workshops, presentations, trainings, and retreats focused on Fraternity & Sorority Life, risk-management, event planning, and/or leadership development at university-wide events, to FSL chapters and student leaders, and broader campus audiences. Monitor financial transactions for assigned fraternity and sorority organizations to ensure fiscal responsibility, effective planning and use of resources, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and University policies and procedures. Actively participate in departmental programs and projects designed to support the mission and goals of the university, division, and department. Serve on committees and task forces, as assigned.
