Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Students Salary $34,725.00 Annually Location Wharton Campus, 911 Boling Highway, Wharton, TX Job Type Support Staff Full Time Job Number 2606 S 047 Department Vice President of Access, Completion, and Transfer Opening Date 08/05/2026 Closing Date 8/20/2026 10:00 AM Central Description Benefits Questions General Description The Administrative Assistant provides high-level administrative, operational, and confidential support to the Dean of Students and departments within the student services area. The position serves as a central point of coordination for student inquiries, office operations, student-centered communication, events, records, budget processes, student staff, and cross-functional support for areas including Counseling, Title IX, TRIO, Residence Life, student activities, and related student support programs. This position helps ensure that students, employees, families, and community partners receive timely, accurate, respectful, and action-oriented assistance aligned with WCJC's commitment to access, completion, and student success. Requirements This position requires an associate degree, or 60 college credit hours, or two years equivalent related office work experience. This position also requires two years of comparable office work experience. Exceptional customer service skills and interpersonal skills are required. The person in this position must be proficient in the use of computers and related software for word processing, spreadsheets, and database management. Excellent written and communications skills are required. This position requires the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and with frequent interruptions. Strong organizational skills, initiative towards completion of assignments, and excellent follow through skills on all assignments and projects is required. Knowledge of, or ability to learn and apply, College procedures related to FERPA, Title IX, Clery Act reporting, student conduct, student complaints, ADA-related referrals, records retention, and confidential student information. The person in this position must have the ability to work with minimal supervision. Preferred experience in higher education, student services, student affairs, residence life, counseling support, Title IX support, student conduct support, case management administration, event coordination, budget support, or front-office operations. Experience using student information systems, case management systems, Microsoft Office, shared calendars, web content tools, and electronic forms is preferred.
