Until Filled Position Summary The Associate Head of School serves as the senior campus leader responsible for the daily integration of academic, residential, and student development programming at Boys Home of Virginia. Reporting directly to the Head of School, the Associate Head ensures that the school operates as a unified residential learning community grounded in structure, support, accountability, and respect. This role supervises the Director of Education, Director of Residential Life, and Student Advisors, and is responsible for establishing and maintaining a cohesive campus culture, unified discipline system, and aligned expectations across classroom and cottage life. The Associate Head of School is a key member of the senior leadership team and is considered a potential successor to the Head of School. Mission Alignment Boys Home of Virginia exists to help young men grow into responsible, confident, and productive members of society. The Associate Head of School ensures that every system, policy, and interaction across campus reflects: Respect Integrity Accountability Positivity Leadership This position advances the school's "Structure + Support" philosophy by ensuring clarity, consistency, and high expectations in every student-facing environment. Primary Responsibilities Campus Leadership & Program Integration Oversee daily operations of academic and residential programs. Ensure alignment between classroom and cottage expectations. Lead implementation of unified behavior and citizenship systems. Coordinate cross-department planning and communication. Maintain consistent standards for conduct, performance, and growth. Chair weekly program leadership meetings. Unified Discipline Oversight Serve as the primary authority for student discipline across campus. Oversee behavioral expectations in both academic and residential settings. Manage major discipline cases and restorative processes. Ensure discipline practices reflect adolescent development and neurodiversity-informed approaches. Maintain clear documentation and family communication. Ensure compliance with school policies and risk management standards. Supervision & Leadership Development Directly supervise: Director of Education Director of Residential Life Student Success Advisors Responsibilities include: Goal setting and evaluation Coaching and professional development Performance accountability Ensuring mission alignment Student Success & Formation Oversee student academic monitoring and behavioral tracking systems. Ensure coordinated support plans for students needing intervention. Align academic, residential, trades, and extracurricular programs under a unified student development framework. Promote leadership development opportunities for students. Strategic Partnership with the Head of School Serve as senior advisor to the Head of School. Assist in long-term strategic planning. Present program updates to the Board as requested. Participate in enrollment and admissions review processes. Gain exposure to executive leadership functions as part of succession development.
