Job Description:
Longwood University invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Residence EducationCoordinator (GA314). The successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision and management of the residential experiences forresidents. Additionally, the candidate will oversee student staff and handle daily tasks related to the management of the assigned communityfacilities and residents. This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on LongwoodUniversity's campus. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Manage the day-to-day operations within the specified community including improvement, management, facilities, andcontinued operations Recruit, select, train, supervise, and evaluate Resident Assistants (RA's) Provide individual andstaff direction by conducting weekly meetings Provide direction regarding programming, community development, and educationalinitiatives Develop and conduct staff development programs for RA staff Assist in the development and instruction ofworkshops Serve as the Professional Staff Member on Call (PSOC), providing back-up for the campus-wide RA staff, managing majoremergencies, and contacting the appropriate administrative staff Work collaboratively with student staff to promote individualdevelopment Support and enforce all University and departmental policies and regulations, and provide formal and informaldisciplinary actions Adjudicate violations of conduct standards Serve as liaison with maintenance and housekeeping Maintain oversight of budgets Demonstrate a commitment to student development and professional standards consistentwith the mission of the University and Residential and Commuter Life Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Student Personnel or related field and professional or significant graduate experience inresidence life required Experience supervising, managing, or advising student staff Preferred qualifications: Master's degree in Student Personnel or related field Mental health experience Crisis/emergencyresponse experience Psychoeducational or social programming experience Prior experience in Higher Education Access to reliable transportation
Additional Information:
This position is a full-time, administrative ≺ofessional faculty, exempt position with a base salary of $43,888 and a 12-month renewable contract. The compensation package includes afurnished apartment with a network connection and utilities, a $500 sign-on bonus, a dining hall meal plan, full tuition remission for up tothree courses per year, and a professional development stipend. A successful fingerprint based criminal background investigation isrequired. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
