The technology teacher will provide instruction for basic technology skills to students in the school. S/he will create a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth of students enrolled in an educational setting. Establishes effective rapport with students. In addition, the technology teacher will work closely with classroom teachers to integrate the core curriculum of the District into the development and planning of all technology lessons.
THIS POSITION IS A TEMPORARY APPOINTMENT/ASSIGNMENT WHICH WILL END JUNE 30, 2027. THIS POSITION IS NOT PERMANENT. APPLICANTS SELECTED FOR THIS POSITION WILL NOT GAIN TENURE IN BIRMINGHAM CITY SCHOOLS. CURRENT EMPLOYEES SELECTED FOR THIS POSITION AGREE TO WAIVE ALL DUE PROCESS RIGHTS. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, parents, school and agency counselors and related service providers in the overall educational plan for students enrolled in the education setting Assist in the development and implementation of the individual education service and transition plan for students enrolled in the education setting Instruct students in a program of study which meets stated objectives and prepares students to master grade level standards Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and policies and procedures of Birmingham City Schools Collaborate with the teacher of record to develop lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with curriculum standards; provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student and subgroups of students Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction and to actively engage students Establish and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom by providing positive reinforcement of acceptable behaviors and modifying unacceptable behaviors Evaluate academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, and keeps appropriate records to include attendance reports, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary Communicate regularly with parents or guardians through conferences and other means to discuss student progress Supervise and monitors student movement and escorts students to resources, bathrooms, buses, cafeteria, room changes and other activities in the building Administer standardized testing Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university A valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate Must meet Every Student Succeed Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements or a willingness to meet the requirements within the designated timeframe
