Participate in department, College, faculty organization, and professional development activities. Perform related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree in History OR A Bachelor's Degree in History AND a Master's Degree in one of the following disciplines: Political Science Humanities Geography Area Studies Women's Studies Social Science Ethnic Studies OR the equivalent Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications of a History faculty discipline at the college. Additional Information The Santa Monica College History Department is actively recruiting instructional faculty for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. The Santa Monica College History Department is a community of instructors and scholars that seeks to understand the past and strives to introduce students to history and to develop in them a historical sense. Our lively departmental culture includes scholarship awards, a history club, internships, and active faculty participation in local, state, regional, and international academic organizations. We study history from all parts of the globe - ranging from the United States to Asia to the Middle East. We are preparing our students for their careers in education, politics, law, public administration, librarianship, and many other disciplines. Students are challenged with critical reading, good writing, and the analysis of historical texts.
