Job Description
Position Summary Father's Harbor Academy is seeking a passionate and dependable Middle & High School Social Studies & Electives Teacher to teach students in grades 6-12 . We are looking for an educator who can bring history, government, economics, geography, and career-focused learning to life while encouraging critical thinking, civic responsibility, and global awareness. This position may also teach elective courses based on the candidate's experience and the school's needs, such as Financial Literacy, Career Exploration, Leadership, Keyboarding, Computer Applications, Study Skills, or other enrichment courses. Whether you have previous classroom experience, tutoring experience, homeschool teaching experience, youth mentoring experience, or professional experience related to the subjects taught, we encourage you to apply. Responsibilities Teach assigned Social Studies courses for grades 6-12. Teach elective courses as assigned. Prepare and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons. Foster critical thinking, discussion, research, and problem-solving skills. Create a positive, structured, and respectful classroom environment. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Assess student progress through projects, presentations, quizzes, tests, and classroom participation. Maintain accurate grades and attendance using Gradelink. Utilize Google Classroom and other educational technology platforms. Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events. Collaborate with fellow teachers and administration to support student success. Maintain classroom organization and uphold school policies and expectations. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or GED. Strong knowledge of middle and high school Social Studies concepts. Ability to effectively teach students in grades 6-12. Excellent communication and classroom management skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students and families. Professional, dependable, and organized. Willingness to learn new technology and instructional methods. Preferred Previous teaching, tutoring, homeschooling, coaching, youth mentoring, or related experience. Experience teaching History, Civics, Government, Economics, Geography, World History, U.S. History, or elective courses. Experience using Google Classroom, Gradelink, IXL, or other educational platforms. Familiarity with Florida B.E.S.T. Standards.
