Job Summary:
The individual in this position assists teachers with curriculum planning, supervision of students, and teaching children in a classroom setting; assists in presenting and reinforcing learning concepts.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Provides support to teachers to ensure a safe and stimulating educational environment Assists teachers in planning and preparation for daily activities; aids instructional efforts of the teacher. Assists the teacher in preparing lesson outlines, plans, and curricula in assigned areas Plans, prepares, and develops various teaching aids for use in the classroom, including activity sheets, drawings, and similar handouts Presents subject matter to students, under the guidance of a teacher, utilizing a variety of methods including stories, discussions, and role playing Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of classroom activities, such as preparing, typing, copying and filing instructional materials Operate and care for instructional equipment and materials Observe and control behavior of students in the classroom according to approved procedures Participate in professional growth activities Follow the communicated policies and procedures of the school district Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Education:
Associate degree from an accredited institution in general education, sociology, or related field, Required Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred Must hold or be eligible for a Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate Experience Minimum 1 year of experience in a school setting or related field•Required Minimum 2 years of experience working in an educational setting•Preferred Successful experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified•
