Long-Term Substitute Social Studies Teacher (Grade 7)

DESCRIPTION

Millbury Memorial Junior-Senior High School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Long-Term Substitute History Teacher to join our learning community and teach 7th Grade Investigating History. This position provides an opportunity to engage students in meaningful, inquiry-based learning while supporting their development as thoughtful, informed, and active members of our community.

The successful candidate will create a classroom environment where students feel seen, valued, and heard while developing their historical thinking, content knowledge, and ability to ask questions, analyze evidence, and communicate their understanding. The teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain continuity of instruction, support diverse learners, and contribute positively to the culture of our school.

QUALIFICATIONS

Possession of MA DESE license in the area of History (5-12) or

Middle School:

Humanities (5-8)

SEI Endorsement preferred

Strong history content knowledge and instructional practices to meet the needs of diverse learners

Experience planning and delivering engaging, student-centered, and inquiry-based instruction

Strong communication skills and a background in working with parents/guardians as partners in the educational process

Ability to accommodate diverse learning styles and provide appropriate instructional supports

Experience utilizing Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and/or Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) preferred

A commitment to building strong relationships with students and working collaboratively in a school community

GENERAL DUTIES

Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction for 7th Grade Investigating History

Create a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, inquiry, discussion, collaboration, and critical thinking

Provide multiple instructional and engagement strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners

Develop learning experiences that ask students to analyze evidence, consider multiple perspectives, make connections, and communicate their thinking

Utilize formative assessment and student work to monitor understanding and adjust instruction as needed

Establish clear learning objectives and success criteria to help students understand what they are learning and what successful learning looks like

Maintain continuity with existing curriculum, instructional practices, and classroom routines

Collaborate with grade-level, department, special education, and other school-based staff to support student learning and engagement

Function as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team

Communicate consistently and appropriately with parents/guardians regarding student progress and needs

Maintain accurate student records, grades, attendance, and other required documentation

Participate in relevant school and department meetings and professional learning opportunities

Support a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom and school culture

Perform other professional duties as assigned by the Principal and/or Assistant Principal

In accordance with the teachers' contract
