Hours:
~10 hours per month (2 Sundays per month, 9:30 am to 12 pm, plus planning time and a monthly meeting).Pay:
$30 to $40 per hour depending on experience. Payroll is issued every other week.Location:
1326 Washington Street, Newton, MA 02465 (in person). About Us As Unitarian Universalists, we put love at the center of everything we do. We welcome people from all religious backgrounds and theologies, including atheists. The Role We are hiring two RE teachers to work with our children and youth for two Sundays a month. Our safe congregation policy requires that two adults be present with the children, so you will always be paired with an adult volunteer. Each RE teacher will lead in using the curriculum to explore Unitarian Universalist values with an assigned group. An adult volunteer and high school youth assistant will provide support. You are welcome to adjust lessons for your group, and the Interim Director of Religious Exploration will provide supervision. Duties- Facilitate one of our three RE classes (2 Sundays a month) from ~10:35 to 11:25: K-2nd, 3rd-4th, or 5th-7th.
- Arrive at 9:30 for a check-in with the Interim Director of Religious Exploration, coordinate with the youth RE Assistant, and prep for class. Stay until noon to clean up and check in with parents/caregivers during coffee hour.
- Prepare lessons in advance, adapting established curriculum to your group.
- Build strong relationships with youth and their families; follow up with parents/caregivers when needed.
- Have periodic one-on-one meetings with the Director of Religious Exploration. About You
- Experience working with groups of children in elementary and/or middle school, and respect for their individual voices and perspectives.
- Alignment with our inclusive values.
- Ability to maintain a safe, clean, caregiving environment and prioritize compassionate communication with children, parents, and staff.
- Completion of a Criminal Background application (CORI), vaccination against COVID-19, and First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to complete the training after being hired).
Pay:
$30.00- $40.
