Aug 20, 2026 Job Description PVPA has an opportunity for a full time Grade 7 Social Studies Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. We are looking for a reflective practitioner who collaborates effectively with colleagues and understands the varied needs of seventh grade students. In this course, students will explore the roots and philosophical foundations of U.S. democracy. They will be tasked with exploring the governments of ancient Greece and the Roman Republic, and will progress through an examination of enlightenment thinkers and their impact upon the American Revolution and the creation of the United States Constitution. Students are assessed through a variety of methods using a standards-based grading system with the goal of supporting and challenging each student. The ideal candidate is interested in integrating the arts into the curriculum, teaching with a social justice lens, collaborating with students and colleagues, and has experience in implementing restorative practices in the classroom. Under the direction of the Director of Curriculum & Instruction, you will be responsible for: 1.Teaching five sections of 7th grade social studies 2.Use an anti-racist, anti-oppression framework to prepare curricula and instructional materials based on learning objectives. 3.Plan curricula and prepare course expectations and materials based on set departmental learning objectives. 4.Supervise students during non-class time (ex:lunch) as required. 5.Assess student work and provide timely feedback to students and parents via the PowerSchool online grading system. 6.Apply PVPA standards based grading system to report on student course progress and achievement. 7.Attend and participate in regular collaborative team meetings with faculty, department and grade level team meetings and school-wide professional development activities. 8.Attend and participate in meetings with students and/or parents as scheduled, including open house and parent-teacher conferences 9.Coordinate with special educators to address the diverse needs of all learners 10.Assist with other faculty administrative duties as required 11.Participate in school-wide events that occur during the school day
