Westfield Public Schools - 3.1 Westfield, MA Job Details Full-time $50,000 - $98,000 a year 6 hours ago Qualifications Parent-teacher conferences (communication methods) Full Job Description Westfield Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for anticipated openings for the 2026-2027 school year.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach courses in Social Studies to secondary students, utilizing course of study adopted by the Westfield School Department, and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content. Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. Develop lesson plans and appropriate instructional aides. Provide individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual abilities, attitudes, and cultural backgrounds. Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment. Evaluate each pupil's progress in social studies knowledge and skills. Identify pupil needs, and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils with attitude, and learning problems. Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned work day. Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs. Work cooperatively with all aspects of the school administrative team/faculty and citizens to insure the highest quality of educational programs. Maintain professional competence through in-service programs. Select and requisition books and instructional aids, and maintain required inventory records; may request resource speakers and field trips. Participate in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities. Communicate with parents and school counselors to discuss pupil progress. Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the building principal or the Superintendent of Schools.
REPORTS TO
Building PrincipalSalary and terms of employment commensurate with provisions of the Westfield Public Schools Unit A contract. Salary placement will be based on information contained in the application as submitted.
EVALUATION
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Westfield School Committee's policy on evaluation. This position subject to funding.
