Job Description
About the Bard Early Colleges Through a tuition-free, engaging college program in the liberal arts and sciences with robust supports, the Bard Early Colleges help high school students, particularly those at risk of not completing postsecondary education, access, afford, and complete college prepared to contribute to the workforce and civic life. Students are taught by college faculty in seminar classes; they receive up to 60 college credits and an associate in arts (A.A.) degree from Bard College, concurrently with a high school diploma. The Bard Early Colleges begin preparing students for college work as early as the 9th grade and offer ongoing guidance and academic supports. Now in its third decade, the Bard Early College network of campuses serves over 3,300 students in campuses in Lower Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, and in Queens, New York; Newark, New Jersey; New Orleans, Louisiana; Cleveland, Ohio; Baltimore, Maryland; and in Washington, DC. Since 2003, Bard College has awarded more than 5,500 A.A. degrees to its early college students.
They will teach courses in our high school program, Seminar sequence courses in our college program, and electives in their area of expertise. All BHSEC Baltimore faculty also participate actively in the life of the school, advising students, serving on committees, or sponsoring extracurricular activities.
Position Objectives:
Bard High School Early College (BHSEC) Baltimore invites applications for a position in our Social Sciences Department, starting in the fall of 2026. The successful candidate will plan and implement an instructional program in General Social Studies and provides related educational services for students. They will manage student behavior, assess, and evaluate student achievement, and modify instructional activities as required; and carry out a variety of student monitoring and supports activities.They will teach courses in our high school program, Seminar sequence courses in our college program, and electives in their area of expertise. All BHSEC Baltimore faculty also participate actively in the life of the school, advising students, serving on committees, or sponsoring extracurricular activities.
