This position will assist and collaborate with classroom teachers in planning and implementing learning experiences that advance the emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of children within a safe, healthy learning environment.TEACHING PARTNER

At Tapestry Charter School we hire Teaching Partners. This gives you a title that is recognized by NYS Office of Certification and your years spent as a Teaching Partner are credited towards your permanent certification. Tapestry Charter School looks for our Teaching Partners to become Classroom Lead Teachers and advertises internally. When a Lead Classroom Teacher is out of the building, you assume the role of that Lead Teacher and are compensated accordingly.JOB DESCRIPTION
Shows evidence of successfully engaging families in the educational progress of their children. Integrates community connections into his/her current practice. Shows evidence of being an active participant in an integrated curriculum project and can successfully describe a conceptual approach that addresses instructional goals, instructional activities, and assessment. Shows achievement in integrating reading and math into social studies and science lessons. Shows success in teaching through the Arts by offering students the opportunity to develop a sense of aesthetic, and to value craftsmanship and presentation. Demonstrates a working knowledge of assessment FOR learning and assessment OF learning by showing the successful use of assessment techniques to inform instruction. Demonstrates a willingness to regularly participate in professional development, both on and off site, and to actively integrate this learning into his/her practice and share with colleagues.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Be a partner, working collaboratively with the lead classroom teacher. Participates as a member of a collaborative team by successfully using communication strategies and structures to overcome collaboration barriers such as time and communication styles. Demonstrates an awareness of personal strengths and challenges in terms of collaboration and can demonstrate flexibility in his/her personal style to serve multiple roles in collaborative relationships/teams. Exhibits initiative in meeting the professional challenge of meeting diverse student needs in an urban classroom setting. Demonstrates awareness of and respect toward students, families and colleagues with diverse backgrounds usingTapestry's Core Values of:

Knowledge of Expeditionary Learning is a plus. Classroom experience is a plus. Must be working towards certification. NYS Certification preferred.Pay:
