What You'll Do Develop and deliver engaging Social Studies lessons aligned to state standards and curriculum frameworks. Create a supportive, inclusive classroom that respects diverse perspectives and encourages active participation. Use primary and secondary sources, multimedia, and technology to enhance learning and encourage inquiry-based exploration. Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments and provide timely feedback to support growth. Integrate literacy, critical thinking, and analytical skills development into Social Studies instruction. Facilitate discussions, debates, and collaborative projects that promote civic engagement, empathy, and informed decision-making. Collaborate with colleagues to align Social Studies curriculum, instructional practices, and assessment strategies. Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behavior, and communicate effectively with families. Participate in professional development to grow your content knowledge, instructional skills, and cultural competency. Promote a positive school culture and take part in school-wide initiatives, committees, and events. What You'll Need State certification or licensure in Social Studies education. Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) status in Social Studies or a related subject area. Bachelor's degree in Education, with a focus on Social Studies or History preferred. A passion for improving educational opportunities for urban students. Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
