4/1 or until filled Job Summary The Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling department seeks Meditation Instructors (MIs) to provide up to seven students with individual mindfulness meditation instruction. This is a one-semester appointment assigned to a specific course. Logistics of this specific position- Dates and Details This is a 1-credit course offered in the Residential Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling concentration, to be taught online and in-person (during Intensive) from May 18
- August 14, 2026.

Compassion Training for Counselors (1 Credit) The development of compassion for oneself and others is explored in this course through practices of loving kindness (metta) and tonglen. Specific topics include the application of compassion meditation to the healing process; resilience in the counseling relationship; evidence-based skills development; and preventing burnout. Group sessions of meditation practice, discussions, and individual instructions are provided. Job Duties & Responsibilities- Provide individual 30-minute sessions of meditation instruction online for about 6-7 students 2 times during semester.
- As appropriate, work with the course instructor to manage and/or mediate student issues and educational obstacles.
- Complete any and all faculty and staff trainings as required by the Human Resources Office, the Office of Academic Affairs, or the Office of Information Technology/Distance Learning within the time period set for completion by those departments.
- Other duties as assigned related to this course. Required Qualifications
- Not currently enrolled as a Naropa student.
- Extensive experience in mindfulness sitting meditation including study with authorized mindfulness meditation teacher (minimum 3 years)
- Have authorization to teach mindfulness meditation in a relevant contemplative tradition, at Naropa or elsewhere, such as evidenced by: a.
- Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Ability to create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
- Ability to work both independently and as a part of a close team, working collaboratively with course instructor and students.
- High degree of emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Naropa's Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Psychology Counseling concentration.
- Prior experience with direct clinical work in counseling, psychology, or related field.
This may also include:
- Reading academic texts and materials, student papers, etc.
- Operating personal computer and audio-visual equipment.
- Standing or sitting for hours at a time.
- Moving around campus for classes and meetings.
- 29 hours each week are eligible for only the employer-paid short-term & long-term disability, employer-paid life insurance & accidental death and dismemberment, and the retirement plan, which includes up to 2.
