Job Description

We are hiring an English and social studies instructor who can support students in grades 6-12, with a particular need for Government, Civics, U.S. History, and high school English. Ability to tutor Spanish or another academic subject is a plus but not required. Candidates who can support multiple subject areas will receive priority consideration. Part-time | $28-$33 per hour | In person in Sammamish and Issaquah Pacific Learning Academy is an established, accredited private school and tutoring service providing personalized, 1-on-1 instruction to middle and high school students. Schedule This position requires consistent availability Monday through Thursday from approximately 3:30-7:00 p.m. or later for our tutoring students. Credit class students may request daytime lessons started as early as 9:30 a.m. The number and frequency of daytime and weekend opportunities will depend on student demand. New instructors typically begin with approximately 5-10 hours per week. H ours may grow over time, potentially reaching up to 25 hours per week, based on availability, subject expertise, student fit, and demand. Candidates who can teach multiple subjects may have access to additional scheduling opportunities. School-year instructors must commit through mid-June and maintain consistent days and times throughout the academic year. Summer work is optional. Responsibilities Lead engaging 1-on-1 English language arts and civics lessons for grades 6-12, incorporating literacy, critical thinking, and discussion to support diverse learning styles. Provide timely feedback, assess progress, and communicate with students, parents, and colleagues about performance and needs. Collaborate with academic coordinators on curriculum planning, instructional design, and appropriate accommodations and support for students with learning differences.

At our Sammamish school office In student homes in Sammamish and Issaquah At nearby libraries Occasionally through Zoom Reliable transportation is required. Drive time between eligible in-person lessons is paid. Additional compensation may apply for teaching accredited credit courses. Paid drive time is provided between eligible in-person lessons.
