Job Description

Monmouth College, an independent residential liberal arts institution in Illinois, seeks applications for a Spring 2027 semester sabbatical replacement in Classics. The position reports to the chair of the School of Humanities and Civic Engagement, and the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty. The position has daily contact with students, staff, faculty, and persons outside the campus community. The successful candidate will be a dynamic colleague willing to work closely with undergraduate students and members of the School of Humanities and Civic Engagement. The candidate will teach four courses to include Latin, Medical Terminology, a Latin course on Catullus and a course in English, within the successful applicant's interest and expertise, on some aspect of culture, history, and literature. Expected salary range for this one-semester position is $25,000 - $27,000 plus benefits to include medical, dental and vision insurance.
