211810 - Global Languages,Literature&Perspec and Art Position Summary The Department of Global Languages, Literatures, and Perspectives on our main campus is seeking part-time adjunct instructors to teach Spanish courses. In addition to courses directed towards students learning Spanish as a second language during the day, we are also recruiting instructors to teach (SPN 203, 204, and/or 480) for our heritage speakers in BUSCA, our associate degree program at night. Essential Duties Prepare meaningful lectures and class activities for the full duration of the published class time for each class period according to academic calendar. Create a syllabus that meets the Provost's Syllabus Checklist requirements. Create assessment activities that support the stated learning outcomes for the course. Address student questions in a timely and helpful manner. Use Canvas and other technology to enhance student learning. Support and follow University policies and procedures as well as those for the department. Attend faculty meetings. Submit grades and materials for assessment projects on or before stated deadlines. Communicate student concerns with personnel in the department. Required Qualifications Master's degree in Spanish, Bilingual/Bicultural Studies, Education, or related field. Preferred Qualifications PhD in Spanish, Bilingual/Bicultural Studies, Education, or related field. Experience or training in teaching Spanish. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with heritage speakers for our courses offered to heritage speakers. Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours If hired for BUSCA, instructors must be available to teach from approximately 6:00-9:15 PM as it is a program for evening students. Special Instructions to Applicant This is a pooled position from which Adjunct Instructors will be selected when/if a need arises in the department.
