A Law Professor teaches national and regional legislative ideas and truths, as well as the methods used in practicing various forms of law to students through a combination of classroom instruction, field experience, and assignments at colleges, trade schools or other institutes. May assist or lead in the creation of the curriculum to be taught. In addition to instruction, they may assist or lead in research initiatives relating to their field. In some cases, law professors will perform legal services.
The College of Law's Experiential Learning Department invites expressions of interest in part-time faculty teaching opportunities within its externship program seminars. DePaul offers externship seminars in four areas: Judicial externships Private practice externships Public interest externships Government externships While there may not be a current position available, applications are reviewed as needed when positions arise. In order to best serve students, part-time faculty are expected to perform all duties and responsibilities of a faculty member that are commensurate and consistent with the faculty member's qualifications and the best interests of DePaul.
Qualifications:
JD degree and a current, active law license. Demonstrated expertise in the practice setting seminar you expect to lead. Prior teaching experience helpful.

About DePaul University's Academic Calendar:
Except for the College of Law, DePaul University operates on a quarter system. Classes in Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters are 11 weeks in length (including finals week) and Summer courses, in two sessions, are typically 5 weeks in length. The College of Law operates on the semester system. Classes in the Fall and Spring semesters are 16 weeks in length (including finals week) and it offers a Summer Session of 7 weeks (including final exams).
