50% - Administration + Effective execution of University policies at the Departmental level. + Leadership and oversight in all Departmental activities including faculty recruitment, retention, and development. + Adjudication of personnel matters and service as the administrative representative for grievance procedures for the Department. + Oversight and enhancement of all Departmental resources across multiple campuses. + Supervision and annual evaluation of faculty across multiple campuses in the areas of teaching, research, clinical practice, and service. + Supervision and annual evaluation of support staff. + Appointment of adjunct faculty + Review and modify, in collaboration with the faculty, the strategic plan for the Department in the areas of teaching, research, clinical practice, and service. + Development and support of appropriate resources and faculty sites for School and Graduate programs through frequent and effective communication with the Dean of the School of Pharmacy and other deans and administrators. + Development and enhancement of research, clinical, and educational relationships between the Department and its allied units within the University as well as appropriate public, private, or government institutions and agencies. + Preparation and submission of the annual Departmental budget in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacy Practice Office Manager. + Management of all Departmental funds in accordance with School and University budgetary guidance. + Initiate annual fundraising efforts to support Departmental needs. + Attendance and completion of University required trainings. + Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Pharmacy 20% - Teaching The teaching responsibilities are required and will be determined based on department needs. Normal teaching responsibilities are no more than the equivalent of 2 credit hours of instruction each academic year. Responsibilities may include coordination and instruction of didactic courses in the School of Pharmacy curriculum for the professional Pharm.

It is an expectation to hold regular office hours and to advise and mentor professional degree-seeking students. 20% - Research Faculty within the Department of Pharmacy Practice are expected to conduct research and scholarship on an ongoing basis. Individually, persons are expected to define their research focus, seek internal/external funding and develop and maintain an active research program. Because of the unique nature of Pharmacy Practice, collaboration is essential both within the department and with other healthcare disciplines. Publication and presentation of completed research is expected. Work should be published in peer- reviewed journals with a national or international stature. 10% - Service The position will support the Profession, University, School of Pharmacy, and Department through their involvement and leadership roles with various committees and organizations. This may include holding elected positions in professional organizations, and serving on local, state and national professional organization committees. Other responsibilities may involve serving as an adviser in supporting student organizations within the School and refereeing for granting agencies, journals and professional association meeting materials. Associate Professor:
1. A terminal degree in pharmacy (Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE accredited school. For pre-2000 graduates, a BS degree is considered terminal.)(e.g., PharmD degree from ACPE -accredited school), and eligible for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level. 2. Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Kansas or eligible to obtain Kansas licensure within six months of employment. 3. An established record of research and service evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, securing external sources of funding, and/or presentations. 4. Evidence of a strong record of teaching and mentoring professional degree-seeking students, graduate students, or pharmacy residents. 5. Documented leadership experience in developing and enhancing relationships with community partners. 6. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills demonstrated through application materials, interview and references that reflect experience in creating collegial work environments. Position Overview:
The University of Kansas School of Pharmacy is seeking an individual to lead the Department of Pharmacy Practice to support the instruction, research, and clinical mission across multiple campus locations (Lawrence, Kansas City and Wichita), while continuing and enhancing the reputation and quality of the program to those served. The Chairperson will provide the opportunity to remain engaged in teaching, research, scholarship, and service to further academic interests. This is a full-time, 12-month, tenured faculty position based in Lawrence, Kansas. This position serves at the pleasure of and reports directly to the Dean of Pharmacy. Rank determinations are based upon qualifications, professional performance, research, and service experience sufficient to qualify for the appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.
