Job Description
Clayton Public Library Circulation Librarian Do you love working with people and have a passion for community? Work at the Clayton Public Library! We are currently hiring a Circulation Librarian, 10-12 hours a week, working Wednesdays and Fridays with rotating Saturdays. This role involves shelving library materials, assisting with check-outs and returns, and providing technological support to patrons. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Shelves all Library materials in proper locations according to priority. Straightens materials on the shelves to ensure consistency and attractiveness. Reviews material placement to identify potential shelving errors. Performs circulation functions, including check-outs and returns. Completes pull item lists and retrieves materials as assigned. Provides technological assistance to patrons as needed. Monitors book drop area for material returns. Processes Library cards for patrons. Provides reference assistance for patrons via face-to-face and telephone interactions, including locating items in the catalog or on the shelf. Helps patrons with Library equipment. Relabels Library materials to ensure markings are accurate. Must be able to work independently. Must be Microsoft Office proficient. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. independently. Engages with patrons to provide a safe and welcoming environment. Assists with setting up and cleaning up activity areas before and after programs as scheduled. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with previous customer service experience.
