Job Description

Young Adult Librarian, Sawyer Free Library (Gloucester) The City of Gloucester is now accepting applications for a full time Young Adult Librarian at the Sawyer Free Library. This position works under the general supervision of the Assistant Library Director and direct supervision of the Head of Youth Services. Responsible for professional- level public library services for young adults ages 11 to 19 in the areas of program development and delivery, customer service, partnerships & outreach, and collection development and use. Supervises public services in the Teen Space. The Young Adult Librarian supervises the Teen Reading Room. Qualifications:
Masters in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association accredited library school required. Minimum one-year experience working with young adults in a public library Strong interpersonal communication skills with young adults and caregivers. Demonstrated success building and maintaining excellent interpersonal relationships and commitment to achieving shared goals Knowledge and familiarity of both literacy and young adult literature required. Knowledge of the Integrated Library System software. Knowledge of computers, operating systems, and other technology equipment; ability to perform basic tasks and troubleshooting such as installing software, resolving printing issues, etc. Adept at understanding and adapting to new technology; skilled at guiding others in the use of technology Demonstrated knowledge of the methods, practices, principles and procedures of professional public library work, especially in the service area of the position. Ability to work independently and effectively with others, including the youth services staff team. Ability to produce reports that demonstrate impact of young adult library services. A commitment to a high level of customer service and public satisfaction. Excellent organizational, time management and problem- solving skills Ability to self-direct and initiate.
Environment/Physical Requirements:
Ability to work on a computer as needed. Frequently required to sit, talk, hear, walk, and manipulate objects, tools or controls. Ability to stand for substantial lengths of time and to bend or stoop Ability to frequently lift and move equipment and materials up to 15 pounds. Intermittently lift and move equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter Experience with WordPress. Bilingual Full/Part Time Full Time Education MLS/Masters Salary Range $32.78 - $47.47 / hour Salary Notes This is a full time, in person, 35 hour per week position with excellent benefits.
