Job Description

Job Title:
ECAD Librarian Job Description The ECAD Librarian will support a satellite constellation program by defining, building, and maintaining high‑quality PCB library content using Siemens Xpedition and related tools. In this role, you will implement and manage library management processes and tools, including Padstack, Cell, Symbol, and Part editors, to ensure accurate, consistent, and manufacturable PCB libraries for complex, high‑speed digital and aerospace‑oriented designs. Responsibilities Define, implement, and maintain ECAD library management tools and processes, including Padstack, Cell, Symbol, and Part editors within the Siemens Xpedition environment. Create, review, and maintain PCB library content such as padstacks, schematic symbols, cells, and parts to support PCB layout and schematic capture activities. Ensure PCB libraries comply with relevant industry standards and internal design rules, supporting high‑speed digital, signal integrity, and power integrity requirements. Interpret mechanical and package dimensional drawings and electrical component datasheets to generate accurate and manufacturable library components. Manage and update PCB libraries using Siemens Xpedition and, when applicable, Siemens EDM Library tools to support ongoing and new design projects. Collaborate closely with electrical design, PCB layout, and other cross‑functional engineering teams to understand requirements and resolve library‑related issues. Support engineers in the use of ECAD tools and libraries by answering questions, explaining library methodologies, and assisting with tool usage and best practices. Translate and exchange data between DXF files and PCB library CAD tools using a 2D vector‑based drafting tool, such as AutoCAD, as needed. Apply knowledge of component package types, interchangeability, and trade‑offs to recommend and implement appropriate library solutions. Follow directions with precision and maintain high accuracy and attention to detail, especially when working under pressure and tight timelines. Use Jira and Confluence to track work, document processes, and collaborate with stakeholders on library requests, changes, and approvals. Communicate clearly in verbal and written form with engineers, project stakeholders, and internal customers to ensure alignment on library standards and deliverables. Essential Skills At least 5 years of full‑time experience as an ECAD librarian. Hands‑on experience with Siemens Xpedition library tools, including Library Manager, Padstack, Cell, Symbol, and Part Editors. Strong experience with PCB libraries and PCB design workflows, including schematic capture and PCB layout. Proficiency with Siemens Xpedition and Mentor Graphics PCB layout tools for library creation and maintenance. Ability to read, understand, and accurately interpret mechanical and package dimensional drawings. Ability to read and correctly interpret electrical component datasheets to derive accurate library parameters. Knowledge of high‑speed digital design considerations, including signal integrity and power integrity, as they relate to library structures. Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow directions with precision, particularly under pressure. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional engineering and project teams. Ability to interact professionally with internal customers, respond to questions, and explain library decisions and methodologies. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Siemens EDM Library tools, while not mandatory, is highly valued. Experience with aerospace or space‑focused electronic designs is a plus. Familiarity with component package types, package interchangeability, and associated trade‑offs. Knowledge of relevant industry standards such as IPC, JEDEC, IEEE, and EIA. Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Experience using a 2D vector‑based drafting tool, such as AutoCAD, to translate data between DXF files and PCB library CAD tools. Working knowledge of Jira and Confluence workflow and collaboration tools. Strong customer‑service orientation when supporting engineers and other stakeholders.
