This full-time contract opportunity, located in a vibrant, welcoming school community near Hampton, SC, is ideal for an experienced educator who is deeply passionate about library science and media literacy. As the Librarian Media Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting students and staff by providing access to rich resources, fostering information literacy skills, and cultivating a love of reading.
Qualifications and Experience:
Master's degree in Library Information Science required Active South Carolina Department of Education licensure with endorsement in media specialist/librarian, or eligible reciprocal licensure from another state Prior experience in a middle or high school library setting is a plus Strong communication skills, adaptability, and genuine enthusiasm for working with adolescents Comfortable managing library operations, technology integration, and resource curation
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the middle/high school library, ensuring an inclusive, engaging environment Curate, organize, and promote a diverse range of digital and print materials tailored to curricular objectives and student interests Collaborate with teachers to integrate information literacy, digital citizenship, and research skills into classroom activities Foster a welcoming atmosphere that encourages reading, independent learning, and creativity among students Support tech initiatives, providing guidance on educational technology and media resources Maintain up-to-date records, cataloguing, and inventory management of library materials
