REPORTS TO
: Director of Office of Academic Advancement
CLASSIFICATION
: Full-Time, Exempt Summary - to perform a variety of functions within the school library in the operations of the library including but not limited to assisting teachers and students in the full use of library services.
Responsibilities :
Independently manage the assigned library under the direction of the Director of Academic Advancement. Operate specialized computer system for circulating media center materials. Assist students with instructional tasks. Oversee staff circulation desk. Assist and instruct students with book selection, charge and discharge books. Assist students with the location and use of library materials. Assist teachers with the selection of library materials needed for classroom instruction Control status of books in circulation, including overdue books. Generate reports Properly shelve and inventory books and other library materials Label and mend books. Maintain records. Encourage literacy through read-alouds to classes and other special events Train students to be effective and ethical users of information Establish policies and procedures that emphasize a Christ-centered learning environment and ensure appropriate use of library resources Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
: Certified classroom teacher and/or have a Master's of Library Science An active member in a Church of Christ congregation
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
: Strong interpersonal and customer service skills Effective written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other educational software Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
: Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds Must be able to sit for extended periods of time Must be able to crouch, kneel, bend and stoop
