GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Library Director, the part-time Librarian performs technical services required for preparing library materials for public use. Responsible for covering the front desk as needed. Assist customers with book search, answers telephone, and deals with the public on a day-to-day basis.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs specialized tasks to prepare library materials for public use with security strips, spine labels, and protective labels, as needed. Must be personable and works well with the public. Answers telephone courteously and directs callers to the right person or information. Works at Circulation Desk as needed. Responsible for covering during lunch breaks, absences, etc. Performs related work as required. (Position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties, which may be performed or supervised.)
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education, training, or experience which provides for knowledge of skills and abilities listed above. Able to follow oral and written instructions; reads, writes, and speaks English. Spanish language skills preferred. Can be trained to use library computer system to track library patrons and library materials. Working knowledge of computer, typewriter, fax machine, copier, and printer required.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED (General Equivalency Diploma); some college helpful.
