Librarian Part Time Laredo, TX Job Details Part-time $25 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Safe work practices Faculty collaboration Instruction sessions (reference services) Mid-level Master's degree in library science Library Science Instructional materials development Master of Library & Information Science Collection management Full Job Description JOB This Part-Time Librarian position works no more than 19 hours per week. The Librarian provides information services to students, faculty and staff members, administrators, and community users. Performs technical duties requiring accuracy and attention to detail. Develops, maintains, and provides access to and instruction in library resources and information. Understands the importance of information literacy in developing student learning in an acacemic institution. Maintains confidentiality of all information, must work flexible hours to include nights and weekends.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities1. Assists the Interim Director of Library Services in carrying out the established objectives of the library.2. Develops, implements, and assesses library instruction services supporting interdisciplinary research and discovery.3. Serves as a liaison for faculty and instructional departments and librarians to assist in coordinating collection development, accreditation, and policy making.4. Using appropriate technologies, plans, develops, and organizes a variety of general and subject-oriented research guides and other instructional resources that maximize student learning, promote information literacy and student success initiatives, and specific programs or course research needs. 5. Initiates and maintains professional working relationships with students, colleagues, and other library users.6. Supports all of the Library's Public Services functions.7. Cooperates as a team member in performing any duty essential to the achievement of efficient library operations.8. Performs other duties as assigned by the Interim Director of Library Services, Dean of Academic Innovation and Technology, and the Provost/Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Recent related experience. Post Secondary experience preferred.

The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work EnvironmentWork is performed in a standard office environment. Work-inside a well-lighted and air-conditioned area most of the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
Safety Required to work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.
Special ConditionsImmediate supervisor may assign other duties. May be required to work outside regular working hours, as needed. May be required to work at a different college work site or campus as needed.
