Job Description
Librarian PTFS , a privately owned, Maryland-based company providing library software and solutions, digital archiving as well as professional services including digitization, library staffing, and integration services, has an immediate opening for a Librarian at a federal government client site in McLean, VA.
DUTIES:
Perform original research and reference service for faculty, staff, students, and external customers. Provide service within available resources to agency staff Perform reference interviews and follow-up via various format deliveries (e.g., in person, email, phone, video, teleconferencing) Design remote database guides and listings Teach library users how to access the library subscription databases from their desktops Provide expertise and service within available library resources - licensed/public domain. Manage and assist the customer with special projects involving library resources. Compose content relevant to the organization s mission. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in multiple formats, including but not limited to prose, verbal presentations, and multiple existing electronic formats. Help identify needed updates to content on the library s intranet and other websites. Compile and report on the metrics/statistics for the library s research and reference services. Create and maintain documentation related to all duties. Research and remain current on new resources, services, and tools and apply innovative skills in recommending those that may optimize the library's mission and performance. Perform other related library duties as assigned.MANDTORY REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must have the following experience Master's in Library Science 3 years experience providing research-focused library reference support Demonstrated experience using ILS/LSP systems and electronic library resources Experience assisting library patrons with database searching Reference work experience in federal government libraries Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat. Work onsite in the library located in northern Virginia. Some relocation expenses may be considered for the qualified candidates that are not in this area. Current DoD security clearance secret or higher.DESIRED SKILLS
