A Library Assistant or Technician assists librarians with organizing materials and helping patrons. Works in a public library, school library, or specialized medical, business or law library. May assist with technology resources in the library.
The Work-Study for the College of Health Sciences's Learning Resources Center will operate in a clerical and academic role, contributing to the center's overall operations. This position will allow the student to gain hands-on experience in the center's roles and responsibilities while applying the knowledge gained through their field of study. The student may perform other duties as assigned by the overseer, committing to the mission and values of the Faulkner University College of Health Sciences.
Responsibilities:
Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, and staff Assist patrons at the circulation desk Shelve and organize library materials Maintain study spaces Performs light cleaning and housekeeping duties to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patrons and staff Assist with basic technological needs Complete assigned clerical tasks
Qualifications:
Must be eligible for the Faulkner University Work-Study Program If you are unsure if you qualify, you can check your eligibility with the Financial Aid office in the Rotunda at 130 B Self-motivated and able to take initiative while working independently with minimal supervision Strong customer service and interpersonal skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Basic computer proficiency Able to organize materials accurately and pay attention to detail Able to work independently and as a part of a team Dependable, punctual, and professional Able to lift and move library materials, up to 20 pounds, as well as stand, bend, or walk for extended periods of time
