Job Description

Yavapai County Free Library District is seeking a part-time Records Technician to join our team starting August 2026. This position works approximately 19 hours per week in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and accuracy are essential. In this position the primary duties will include preparing library materials for circulation by applying protective coverings, barcodes, ownership stamps, and RFID tags; moving books and boxes using carts or other equipment; and performing other duties as assigned. Performs a variety of clerical and office tasks, including entering and retrieving data from computer database programs, maintaining filing systems, compiling data and preparing reports; receiving money and entering receipts; handling incoming phone calls and assisting visitors; keeping account and other office records; proofreading and coding; and coordinating flow of clerical work with that of other departments and agencies. Handles public and agency requests for records information, both by telephone and in person. Classifies reports, sorts, and analyzes information, compiles statistics, verifies information, and builds and maintains statistical data. May perform special project research and analysis as assigned. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
A minimum of one (1) year of general office experience.
Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
Departmental clerical and office procedures, including various internal programs. Various data processing systems. Business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition. Clerical office practices and procedures. Research techniques and report writing. Current Microsoft Office software. Filing and recordkeeping.
Skill in:
Communicating effectively verbally and in writing and communicating orally in a face-to-face setting and by telephone with public and employees. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public. Organization and adherence to detail.
Ability to:
Maintain records and prepare accurate reports. Follow written and verbal instructions. Type at a minimum speed of twenty-five (25) WPM. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, employees of other departments, representatives of other organizations, County officials, and the public. Keep management informed of key operating issues affecting the department. Remain current in knowledge required to perform assigned duties. Handle confidential matters and maintain discretion always. Act with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.
Work Environment:
The work environment is associated with an office. The work area is adequately lighted, heated or cooled and ventilated.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Sufficient vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech ability to communicate effective in-person and telephonically. Capable of frequent repetitive movement of arms, fingers, and wrists. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
