Job Description

Effectively assists with Teen Services in our down UNDER after school program (Fairfield Woods Branch Library) and other teen programming. As a member of the Teens Services Team, provide friendly, enthusiastic teen patron service Assists in operation of the downUNDER after school teen program and carries out various tasks including registering participants for program, assisting with hands-on crafts and STEM activities, engaging participants in conversation, and encouraging participation in various activities. Proactively engage with teens to promote library activities and a positive library experience. Responds professionally to simultaneous demands in very busy library environment Represents Fairfield Public Library in a positive and professional manner Performs other related duties as assigned Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must enjoy working with grades 6-12. Ability to perform in a courteous and professional manner at all times with excellent customer service skills Display an interest in and knowledge of teen culture and interests. Ability to use good judgement and discretion interacting with staff and the public
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Highly motivated junior or senior high school students may be considered. All candidates must be at least 16 years old.
SCHEDULE
Hours fluctuate based on operational and seasonal needs; must have availability to work 2:00-5:00 PM or 2:30-5:00 PM weekdays during the school year.
PAY RANGE
$18.50 per hour
AFFILIATION
Non-Bargaining Unit, Part-Time position; up to 19.5 hours or less
