Assistant Librarian Part-Time Salary $19,448.00 - $25,282.40 Annually Location 150 N. Palmetto Ave. Sanford, FL Job Type Part-time Employment Job Number 2026-03780/8700B Department PR Library Services Opening Date 04/01/2026 Closing Date 4/15/2026 11:59 PM Eastern Description Benefits Questions Description Enriching the library experience for our customers by providing customer service that connects library customers to information, resources and services. The library paraprofessional works to engage the customer individually or in groups for library programming. Delivers information services (reference and readers advisory) to customers, using reference research technology and teaches information literacy. •Salary will be determined depending on qualifications of candidates who exceed the minimum requirements as outlined within the job description. •Additional compensation based on licensure.
Essential Functions Note :

Provides customer service and paraprofessional library work in a main library or library branch, which includes general reference, adult or children's programming. Responsible for providing quality customer service, maintains level of efficiency and standards of service. Performs work using analytical, organizational, and communicative skills to assist people in finding information and using it effectively for professional and personal use. Plans and implements work activities and programming pertinent to the specialty area. Uses an integrated online operating system, print and electronic resources to assist customers. Prepares and submits regular and special statistical and other reports as requested. Selects books and materials for customers as part of the school library partnership. Gathers books on a specific topic for teacher pickup. Perform other duties as assigned or as may be necessary. In the event of an emergency, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties. Minimum Qualifications Completion of Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years library experience is required. A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualification Additional Requirements Knowledge of principles and practices of library science; library system organization; methods and techniques. Knowledge of literature and reading trends. Knowledge of an online, integrated library operating system, including knowledge of circulation functions, public catalog, and research functions. Proficiency with a PC and software at the level necessary to successfully complete the tasks of the job is required. Proficiency with MS Word and Excel is required. Knowledge of reference services, virtual reference services and databases. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License. All employees must attend Seminole County Required Trainings. Department Specific trainings per position may be required. Ability to communicate library mission, services, and resources to the public; communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Our pay-for-performance system includes competitive hiring salaries and merit raises.
Paid Time Off:
New part-time employees accrue 83 hours per year of Paid Time Off. Accrual rates increase with service time.
Paid Holidays:
We observe 12 paid holidays which includes an employee birthday holiday and a floating Work/Life Day.
Bereavement Leave:
Employees may receive up to one week paid leave per fiscal year for absence due to the death of an immediate family member.
Florida Retirement System:
All employees in regularly established positions are automatically covered from the first day of employment. Deferred Compensation Plan (457): Employees may choose to have pre-tax payroll deductions made for deposit into this savings plan up to an IRS-established maximum.
Employees Assistance Program:
Our EAP provider can help employees and their families with issues such as personal/family matters, financial debt counseling, substance abuse, etc.
Training and Development Program:
The Employee Learning Center provides training opportunities for employees which promote performance, enhance employees' work life experiences, and support the organization's plan. A calendar of training events is published regularly.
Employees' Awards and Recognition:
A program to reward outstanding performance and enhance service to the citizens of Seminole County.
Credit Union:
County employees are eligible to join the Fairwinds Credit Union.
Wellness Center :
Includes exercise equipment, resource library, and educational programs.
