Job Description
Job Goal:
The Library Associate supports the daily operations of the library by providing excellent customer service at public service points and assisting with circulation, programming, and collection maintenance tasks. This position is an essential part of the library's public service team and helps ensure a positive and productive experience for all patrons.Schedule :
Sunday 1:00pm-5:00pm, Monday 5:00pm-9:00pm, Tuesday, 5:00pm-9:00pm, Wednesday 5:00pm-9:00pm, Saturday 10:00am-2:00pmEssential Functions:
Provide customer service at public service desks, assisting patrons in-person and by phone with locating materials, managing accounts, and accessing library services. Register new patrons and introduce them to the library's technology, policies, and offerings. Shelve materials and conduct collection maintenance, including weeding and shelf reading, to support a clean and accessible library space. Maintain department tidiness and ensure that displays and shelves are organized. Provide basic reader's advisory and informational services. Support basic programs and events in-house and through outreach. Assist with outreach events to promote library services and community engagement. Create print and online promotional materials to support programs. Design and maintain displays to promote collections and meet patron interests. Provide support for other library operations as assigned. Perform other duties as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent education/experience mix required. Experience in a library, bookstore, or public service setting preferred. Must pass a background check according to library standards. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. Must provide own transportation to outreach locations. Strong interpersonal skills; able to establish and maintain positive working relationships. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Basic computer competency, including proficiency with internet, email, word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and databases.Physical Demands:
