Job Description
Circulation Assistant (Saturdays), Cotuit Library (Barnstable)
POSITION SUMMARY
Cotuit Library is seeking a friendly, dependable, and detail-oriented Circulation Assistant to join our front desk team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with the public, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is comfortable handling a variety of tasks in a busy, public-facing setting. The Circulation Assistant plays a key role in ensuring the library is welcoming, efficient, and well-staffed during public hours.SCHEDULE
This is a non-exempt, part-time position with a regular weekly schedule:- Saturdays from 10:00 a.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet and assist patrons of all ages in a courteous, engaging manner
- Check library materials in and out, process renewals, and handle holds and paging lists
- Create and maintain patron records with accuracy and care
- Answer general reference questions and assist with readers' advisory
- Help patrons locate materials and use equipment such as the copier, printer, or public computer
- Shelve and retrieve library items as needed
- Assist with library displays and occasional programs
- Answer phones and provide information in a professional manner
- Support opening and closing procedures as needed

- Ability to work independently and stay organized in a dynamic setting
- Professionalism, discretion, and respect for patron privacy
- Comfort with technology and basic troubleshooting
- Prior library or customer service experience preferred
- Familiarity with library systems, such as KOHA or similar platforms, is a plus.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Proficiency with computers and office equipment (scanners, printers, etc.)
A CORI/SORI
background check is required.- Previous library experience is preferred
