Job Description

POSITION

Upper Elementary School Library Assistant

QUALIFICATIONS

Two years college education

REPORTS TO

Building Principal

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

In cooperation with the building principal and under the direction of the

Library Media Specialist:

Oversee circulation of books, media and devices.

Actively supervise students when using the library.

Implement lessons provided by Library Media Specialist to small groups of students.

Assist students, faculty, and staff in locating, circulating, and using library resources.

Assist students with instructional/academic tasks and projects in the library setting.

Create and update library displays and bulletin boards.

Locate and organize resources to assist and support classroom use of library space.

Support the social emotional needs of students through positive relationship building within the library setting.

Record teacher and pupil requests for print and non-print purchases.

Maintain up-to-date cataloging.

Other duties may be assigned by the building principal
