Schedule is at discretion of supervisor
Evaluation Procedures:
Student workers are evaluated on a continuous basis.
Scope:
Assist in providing Interlibrary Loan services to the College community
Responsibilities:
Opening the ILL Department's mail and sorting its contents Checking materials in and out, using specialized software Delivering materials to appropriate locations in the library Retrieving books, periodicals and microfilm/fiche from library shelves Preparing and packaging materials for shipment Creating shipment requisitions using shipping software Locating requested articles within books, periodicals and microfilm/fiche Scanning requested articles using a flatbed scanner and microform scanner Uploading and shipping scanned articles using specialized software Returning materials to appropriate locations in the library Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Current undergraduate student at McDaniel College. Ability to work 6-8 hours a week while the department is open: Mon - Fri, 8am - 4pm. Ability to focus, with attention to detail, in a distracting environment Good organizational skills Must be dependable, responsible and self-motivated Ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to learn to operate flatbed and microform scanners, computer printers and office copier Ability to learn to use multiple types of software Ability to bend, reach, and grasp items from shelves; push a wheeled, book cart; lift packages 10 lbs. or less; sit for 1-2 hours and use a computer keyboard and monitor. Must be punctual, dependable and able to work without direct supervision
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in an office or library environment Computer literacy with experience using multiple types of software
