• Providing direct service to library users, creating a welcoming and accessible environment in the library, and supervising student workers at the desk and on projects.
• Hiring, training, assigning work, and evaluating student workers.

This position directly supervises 5-10 students.

• Ensuring high quality service at the main service point in the library, assisting library users with questions, loans, and group study room check outs, assigning and overseeing the work of student workers, responding to safety and building issues, and collaborating with building and campus partners to ensure the library services desk serves as a welcoming hub for library and campus activities.
• Performing resource sharing tasks, digitization and remediation support, and cooperatively working on stack and collection maintenance projects with the Access & Collection Services Team.

Access & Collection Services Team is responsible for acquisitions, library facilities oversight and security, cataloging, circulation, course reserves, managing print and electronic materials, resource sharing, and stacks maintenance. The person in this position will spend the majority of their working time as the designated library services desk supervisor. This 10 month position is scheduled to work full time (40 hours/week) during the academic year (late August

• early May) and will be responsible for weekend shifts and some evening shifts.

A typical schedule may look like Saturdays-Wednesdays on, Thursdays & Fridays off. Work schedules are dependent on Library open hours and are subject to change from semester to semester. The person in this position may be assigned minor, non-recurring duties or tasks that change frequently and don't consume more than 10% of a regular 40-hour work week. These tasks will be related to the general framework of the employee's duties. Active work schedule runs from August through May annually, with a scheduled unpaid short work break in June and July.

Benefits:

They will keep their health benefits during June and July. Because they won't have a paycheck during those two months, their insurance premiums will accumulate and be deducted via a retroactive catch-up schedule once they return to payroll in August. They will accrue vacation/sick time and receive paid holidays normally during their 10 active months. Qualifications Required Qualifications High school graduation with one year full time equivalent library, clerical or related work experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a library Demonstrated ability to communicate with diverse groups of people Experience providing high-quality service to users/customers in a collaborative team environment Experience training others Experience formatting documents in Adobe Acrobat and Google Workspace with a focus on quality assurance and accuracy.
