The City of Claremont is seeking a dependable, friendly, and organized individual to join the team at Fiske Free Library as a Part-Time Library Page. Fiske Free Library is an important part of the Claremont community — a place where people of all ages come to read, learn, explore, and connect. What You'll Do The Library Page helps keep the library organized, welcoming, and running smoothly.

Responsibilities include:

  • Shelving books and other library materials in the proper order and maintaining neat and organized shelves;

  • Checking library materials in and out and assisting with general circulation desk duties;

  • Answering phones and directing patron questions to the appropriate staff member;

  • Preparing newspapers and magazines for the shelves;

  • Emptying the outside book drop and checking shelves for overdue materials;

  • Cleaning DVDs and CDs and making minor book repairs;

  • Assisting with library programs, room setup, and bulletin boards;

  • Helping patrons use equipment such as the copier and microfilm machine;

  • Helping maintain clean and orderly public areas, tables, shelves, and workspaces; and

  • Providing courteous and helpful customer service to library patrons.

What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is reliable, takes pride in keeping things organized, and enjoys working both independently and as part of a team. Candidates should have at least a 9th-grade education and the ability to accurately organize and shelve materials alphabetically and using the Dewey Decimal System. Basic computer skills are helpful, and we will be looking for someone who can learn the library's systems and procedures. The successful candidate must be able to maintain patron confidentiality, follow instructions accurately, communicate effectively, and provide friendly and respectful service to the public. A flexible schedule is required, including the ability to work some evening and weekend hours. Come Be Part of Fiske Free Library!
