Job Description

All computer applications including hardware and software related to general office work. Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System and types of assorted genres and reader services. Standard business arithmetic, including addition and subtraction. Typing rate at or above 40 net words per minute. Clear and effective communication skills, both orally and in writing. Answers reference, readers' advisory, informational and directional questions in person or by telephone utilizing print sources, online catalog, databases, the Internet and other electronic sources. Positively interacts with diverse groups of people. Checks customer's materials in and out. Conducts instruction with customers in the use of library equipment and material(s), especially the use of computers and software applications. Participates in library special events as needed. Uses tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines. Assists customers with questions regarding procedures, programs and policies of the library. Maintains awareness of current trends in libraries, literature and library technology. Maintains collections by shelving materials in their correct location. Assists in marketing and promoting library services and programs. Operates computers, photocopier, scanner, and other library technology equipment. Other duties as assigned. High School Diploma or GED equivalent Experience working with customers and familiarity with library classification is desired. Bachelor's degree preferred. Public Library certification (support-staff track) through the Oklahoma Department of Libraries is preferred.
