Job Description

About the Opportunity A well-established organization is seeking a Temporary Library Assistant to support an upcoming library and archives relocation and digitization project. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with library, archives, museum, collections, or records management experience who enjoys hands-on organizational work and is highly detail-oriented. The Library Assistant will support the team in preparing materials for scanning and digitization, organizing library and archival collections, and safely packaging materials for storage and transport. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, handling materials carefully, and staying organized while managing a variety of project-related tasks. Responsibilities Prepare library and archival materials, lists, and documentation for scanning and digitization. Sort, organize, label, and inventory library and archive materials. Assist with the preparation and organization of collections for an upcoming move. Package and box artwork, gifts, artifacts, documents, and other materials for storage or digitization. Maintain accurate records, lists, and tracking documentation throughout the project. Handle materials carefully and follow established procedures for storage, transportation, and digitization. Assist with general library and archives administrative tasks as needed. Work independently while maintaining productivity, accuracy, and attention to detail. Support additional project needs as they arise. Qualifications Previous experience in a library, archives, museum, collections, records management, or similar environment preferred. Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail. Comfortable handling physical materials, artwork, documents, and archival items. Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate records. Strong computer and administrative skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Professional communication and strong follow-through. Must be able to commute to both Quincy and Avon, MA as needed. Ability to commit to the full temporary assignment through December 11, 2026 . Schedule & Location This is a 37.5-hour-per-week hybrid position .
Onsite:
Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday Remote:
Wednesday and Friday The successful candidate must be able to work onsite at locations in Quincy and Avon, MA as required by the project. This is a temporary assignment expected to run from approximately late August/early September through December 11, 2026 . #RJADM45
Pay:
$27.00 - $30.00 per hour
