PART-TIME LIBRARY CLERK
The City of Kennedale, Texas (pop. 10,233) Police Department is seeking a Part-Time Library Clerk. Kennedale is located just southeast of Fort Worth. We are a family-oriented community providing a refuge from the hectic pace of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Open spaces, green belts, and trails enhance our serenity, quality of life, and community. With easy access from I-20 and 287, Kennedale is economically prosperous, business-friendly, and conveniently located, providing opportunities to shop, work, and play. Under the supervision of the Library Director, this role performs a wide variety of technical and clerical tasks in support of the municipal library services and activities, including providing customer service, reference assistance, processing materials, inter-library loans, cash handling, and circulation of material. Assists patrons in locating library resources in print or digital formats, guides patrons through use of public computers and using library services on personal devices, and shelves materials. Works all functions of the circulation desk including: cashiering, checking items in and out, placing holds, processing courier shipments, and addressing complaints. In addition, this role may also assist with opening and closing the library, making city facility reservations, maintaining supplies, daily revenue reporting and library usage statistics.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to customers by providing routine information, answering questions,
- Assisting with standard office and library equipment, and referring customers to appropriate resources.
- Verify patron information and library cards and circulates books and other library materials using integrated library system.
- Review and processes library hold materials, contacts and notifies library patrons of availability and procedures for pick up.
- Receive and returns circulated materials, collects fines, inspects returned materials for damage and repairs materials as needed.
- Sort and shelve library materials. Registers new customer accounts in library system, verifies customer addresses, phone numbers and email, issues and renews system generated library cards.
- Review accounts for accuracy.
- Answer and route all incoming telephone calls.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by one (1) year of library or customer experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Texas Driver's License.
- Work some nights and weekends as required providing library service to the public.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Must have the ability to manage multiple assignments and responsibilities simultaneously.
- Must have good written and oral communication skill and have ability to be tactful in communicating with a wide variety of diverse populations.
- Possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information in a responsible way.
