Kennedale is located just southeast of Fort Worth. We are a family-oriented community providing a refuge from the hectic pace of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. With easy access from I-20 and 287, Kennedale is economically prosperous, business-friendly, and conveniently located, providing opportunities to shop, work, and play. The City is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused Permit Clerk to support the daily operations of our Community Development Department. This position serves as a key point of contact for residents, contractors, business owners, and internal staff. The Permit Clerk performs a wide variety of receptionist, clerical, and administrative support duties, helping ensure efficient service delivery and accurate recordkeeping.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the first point of contact at the Community Development counter and by phone, providing information on city services, permits, contractor registrations, and business licenses.
  • Process permit applications and issue permits; accept and receipt payments including permit fees, impact fees, and related charges.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the Director, Building Official, and Code Enforcement, including preparing correspondence, reports, legal notices, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Coordinate agenda preparation and meeting materials for assigned boards and commissions, including posting agendas and preparing meeting minutes.
  • Maintain organized filing systems and departmental records in compliance with retention requirements.
  • Assist with general office operations including mail processing, document scanning, supply ordering, and special projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with MyGov preferred.
  • Municipal experience preferred
  • General accounting and/or cash handling experience.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent customer service abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and successfully complete required pre-employment screenings.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the public and other departments
