Job Description

Under direct supervision, provides reference and reader advisory services and assists with planning and presenting Library programs.
  • Provides reference and reader advisory services to Library patrons.
  • Provides instruction and assistance in the use of the Library catalog, the Library's print and digital collections, copy and print equipment, and other resources and services.
  • Assists with planning, promoting, presenting, and evaluating Library programs, including outreach services.
  • Creates engaging digital and print promotional materials (flyers, social media graphics, signage, digital displays, and program calendars) using Canva and other design tools.
  • Assists in marketing and promoting library services, resources, collections, and upcoming events across digital platforms, newsletters, and in-library displays.
  • Maintains an awareness of literature services and reference sources, and of public library trends, methods and ethics.
  • Assists supervisor in departmental planning and preparing reports.
  • Informs supervisor of all work activities.
  • Adheres to departmental, personnel, and safety rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties specific to the department, specialized assignments, or as assigned.
  • An associates or equivalent experience in a related field is required.
Work Experience:
  • One year of public library experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools (such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite) to create clean, visually appealing promotional content and digital assets.
  • Knowledge of Korean language (speaking) is preferred. Must submit to and pass a post-offer, non-regulated drug test and thorough background checks (including criminal history).
  • Able and willing to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekend hours.
  • Knowledge of the practices and principles of public library operations.
  • Excellent English communicative skills, both oral and written, to include spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Skilled in using a personal computer and various other office equipment.
  • Must be able to maintain good relations with the public and staff and demonstrate courtesy and tact in all situations.
  • Must be able to understand and carry out oral and written directives, work well under pressure and stress, handle multiple tasks, prioritize and organize work assignments, maintain a pleasant and friendly demeanor at all times.
