ABOUT The Student Assistant, Tyler Public Library Programming Assistant, supports library programs and services by assisting with event setup and cleanup, preparing materials, helping patrons with activities, tracking attendance, maintaining activity areas, and providing general program support. The student must be willing and able to report to an off-campus location in Tyler. •Student Assistant positions are subject to a maximum of 18 hours per week.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Assisting with the setup and the cleanup of children's and adult programs and events Assisting program and event attendees with activities such as crafts and games Passing out and picking up materials and supplies during programs and events Counting the number of program or event attendees Assisting with preparation for programs and events such as cutting, stapling, gluing, and copying materials Tidying the play area and sanitizing toys Operating the DVD player and projector to show movies to children visiting the library after school Reading with children or adults as a reading buddy

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Individual Contributor Work Environment:
Work is primarily conducted during normal business hours. Some work may be conducted outside of normal operating hours.
Physical Demands:
Sitting, walking, typing, standing, pushing, bending, lifting (up to ~35 lbs.)
Travel Required:
Yes-Tyler Public Library If travel is required, the candidate must have and maintain a current, valid Texas driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
WHO YOU ARE
Students must be registered for undergraduate classes and maintain enrollment status to work in these positions. Students may qualify for Federal Work Study, which will be determined by the Office of Financial Aid. Additional Job-Specific Requirements Students are allowed to work a maximum of eighteen (18) hours per week and cannot work in multiple hourly positions. A work week is Monday-Sunday.
