  • Part-time After-School 5th Grade Academy Teacher Job Description 2026-2027 (Part-time) Peninsula Bridge is seeking an experienced, passionate, 5th-grade Math/ELA educator for our After School Academy at either our Crystal Springs (Belmont) or Menlo School (Atherton) sites (September 2026-May 2027).
Schedule:
This is a part-time, on-site, two-day-a-week teaching role, from 3:45
  • 5:45 pm, plus approximately 1 hour of administrative and collaborative work each week.
There are approximately 50 total teaching days for the 26-27 year. If requested, a teacher can work at both sites simultaneously for a total of 4 days a week.

$75/hr for teaching; $35/hr for meetings and administrative work About Peninsula Bridge Peninsula Bridge empowers motivated, under-resourced students to achieve college and career success through individualized support and transformational educational opportunities. Our 13-year holistic program model provides academic and personal support for students from 4th grade through college graduation. With a high-quality teaching staff, engaging curriculum, and a long-term commitment from participants and their families, Peninsula Bridge prepares students for success in school, college, career, and life. Job Description Instructors will teach a class of 15-20 students using the Peninsula Bridge curriculum. For one semester, they will teach their 5th-grade class in ELA, and for the other semester, they will teach the same class with Math. The lessons focus on strengthening English-language writing and reading skills, as well as grade-level math skills. The after-school curriculum is hands-on, globally oriented, and based on Common Core standards. No curriculum design is required, and all lesson plans and materials will be prepared and provided by Peninsula Bridge. Classes meet twice per week during the academic year after school hours. Instructors are responsible for being well-prepared for all sessions and for reading all communications (lesson plans, email announcements, etc.). In addition to teaching, there are monthly site debrief meetings, 2-3 training sessions outside of the regularly scheduled program time, and collaboration with the site-based coordinator and instructional lead. Instructors are expected to analyze student work and assessments to inform their teaching. At the conclusion of each semester, instructors will provide an assessment and narrative comment for each student. Instructors are part of a collaborative site-based team with four to five other teachers, a Site Coordinator who is also a full-time Peninsula Bridge Staff member, and an Instructional Lead who reports to the Director of Middle School Programs. Bachelor's Degree Preferred Competencies/Qualifications:
Teaching Credential Masters Degree Spanish speaking Additional Information This is an hourly position.
Compensation is:
$75/hr. for Direct Teaching Hours $35/hr. for Administrative Tasks (trainings, teacher meetings, assessment) There are an average of 25 sessions per semester, 50 sessions per year (September-May) and one teacher training day in August.
