Principal and Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction About Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy (FSHA) is a Catholic, Dominican, independent, college-preparatory day and boarding high school for young women. Rooted in the Dominican values of faith, integrity, and truth, FSHA is committed to educating the whole person—intellectually, spiritually, and socially—within a vibrant and inclusive learning community. Position Summary Our ideal Math Teacher candidate has a strong background in mathematics and the ability to engage students through clear instruction, thoughtful assessment, and real-world application of concepts. The teacher will use frequent and varied assessment methods to gauge student progress and provide meaningful feedback. This full-time position includes teaching five sections of Math. The ideal candidate will have experience integrating technology into instruction and be open to exploring emerging tools to enhance learning and student engagement. We seek educators who are eager to collaborate with colleagues and students on interdisciplinary projects and who bring experience with instructional technology and innovative teaching strategies. All faculty are involved in co-curricular programs and share a commitment to a holistic approach to educating our young women. Teaching & Learning Environment FSHA educators work in an innovative learning environment that emphasizes intentional curriculum design and continuous professional growth. Faculty collaborate within teacher-driven professional learning communities and support a four-year, student-centered research program culminating in a senior research course. The school maintains a 1:1 MacBook program and encourages reflective practice, assessment of instructional effectiveness, and the sharing of best practices within departments and across disciplines. Essential Job Functions Teach five blocks of Math Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning Provide students with timely, ongoing, and meaningful feedback, including comments at the end of grading periods Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and adjust instructional strategies accordingly Demonstrate excellent classroom management and leadership skills Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments in a timely manner and maintain an up-to-date gradebook Participate in department, school, and parent meetings Communicate proactively and consistently with students and families regarding student growth and development Demonstrate commitment to the mission of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy Create a classroom and co-curricular environment that nurtures the development of faith, integrity, and truth Demonstrate a strong commitment to equitable and inclusive classroom practices Collaborate with grade-level counselors and the learning specialist Foster a learner-centered classroom environment and challenge students to apply knowledge to real-life problems Serve as a reflective educator who models intellectual curiosity Actively participate in the school's culture of inquiry and pursue professional development opportunities Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, and Department Chair Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Math or a related field; Master's degree preferred Preferred experience teaching Pre-Calculus, Geometry, and/or Statistics. Current teaching certification preferred 3+ years of high school teaching experience preferred In-depth knowledge of instructional strategies in mathematics Experience with academic technology and/or a willingness to learn new tools Ability to effectively use a computer and Learning Management Systems for instruction and record-keeping Proficiency in curriculum planning, instruction, and assessment of student mastery Excellent organizational skills Physical and Environmental Conditions Stands 50% or more of the workday Sight, hearing, and speech are essential for communication Lifts up to 10 pounds without assistance Compensation & Benefits FSHA offers a competitive full-time salary range of $61,700-$92,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
