Job Description

This role is in person only! Please only apply if you are available for a minimum of 4 days from 12pm till 7pm and you are willing to go to schools to teach. Must be able to work on Saturdays. The role needs the candidate to be currently comfortable with high school maths. The interview will include a math test at High School level including subjects like Trigonometry and Calculus. Mathnasium is the industry leader in providing supplemental math education to children in K through 12th grades. We are looking for passionate instructors that have a strong mathematics background and/or math teaching experience. Mathnasium provides for success by finding the right starting point (through diagnostic testing) and building confidence and self-esteem through successful encounter and interaction with carefully selected materials. As a part-time Mathnasium Instructor, you will be trained on the Mathnasium curriculum and teaching methods. You will provide personalized math instruction in any of the following elementary Math through Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, College Algebra, Statistics and Calculus. As a successful Instructor, you will: Teach using Mathnasium based programs Interact with and motivate students during the instruction hour Evaluate and document student progress Communicate students' needs to the Center Director Develop rapport with students and establish a fun learning environment Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching math Assist in keeping the center clean and orderly (before, during and after instruction hours)
Qualifications:
Fluency in teaching Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, College Algebra, Statistics, and Calculus Minimum freshman college level mathematics Mathematics competency based on Mathnasium skills assessment Enthusiasm for teaching math to young kids Good social and communication skills Willingness to learn the Mathnasium teaching method through on the job training
Schedule:
This is a part-time position varying from about 4 to 25 hours per week, depending on the programs you are able to instruct and your availability. Flexible work hours are in afternoons and evenings (
Mon-Fri:
3pm-7 pm;
Sat:
9am-2pm). Saturday availability is a plus.
