Immediate About Us S.A.M Singapore Math & S.A.E English of South Windsor is an established learning center serving students ages 4-12. S.A.M is part of a global network of more than 200 learning centers and provides a structured Singapore Math enrichment program focused on building strong mathematical thinking, problem-solving skills, and confidence. Our S.A.E English program develops strong foundations in: Phonics and early reading Reading comprehension Grammar and vocabulary Critical thinking Structured writing and written expression We use established curriculum and individualized learning plans, allowing instructors to focus primarily on teaching, guiding, correcting, and supporting students rather than creating lessons from scratch. About the Role We are looking for a reliable and versatile Math & English Instructor who can also serve as a substitute instructor when needed. This is a good fit for someone who is comfortable teaching elementary and middle-school-level Math and English and enjoys working with children in a structured learning environment. You may have regular weekly teaching hours while also being cross-trained to step into Math or English classes when another instructor is absent. Our classes are small, typically with up to four students , allowing instructors to provide individual attention while still developing strong classroom-management skills. Available Hours Our center operates during the following times:

approximately 4:00 PM-7:30
PM Saturday:
approximately 9:00 AM-1:00 PM You do not need to be available for every shift. However, candidates with availability across multiple weekdays and the ability to occasionally substitute for another instructor will be given preference. What You'll DoMath Instruction Guide students ages 4-12 using the established S.A.M Singapore Math curriculum Help students develop mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills Explain concepts clearly rather than simply providing answers Review and correct student work accurately Identify areas where students need additional support English Instruction Support students with phonics, reading, grammar, comprehension, and writing Help younger students build strong reading foundations Guide students in progressing from simple sentences to more structured writing Review written work and provide clear, age-appropriate feedback Help students strengthen comprehension and critical-thinking skills General Responsibilities Teach students in small-group settings Follow established curriculum and individualized learning plans Maintain a focused and positive classroom environment Track student progress and communicate observations to the Center Director Grade and correct student work Substitute for Math or English instructors when needed Participate in training and ongoing instructor development What We're Looking ForRequired Bachelor's degree Strong foundational Mathematics skills Strong command of English reading, writing, and grammar Experience working with children Ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently Strong communication and organizational skills Reliable and responsible Authorized to work in the United States Preferred Previous teaching or tutoring experience Education, English, Mathematics, STEM, Psychology, or related background Experience working with elementary or middle-school students Availability on multiple afternoons/evenings Flexibility to occasionally cover another instructor's class Formal classroom teaching experience is helpful but not required for a strong candidate who works well with children and can teach both subjects confidently. Compensation Pay ranges from $18-$25 per hour , depending on experience, training, and demonstrated teaching ability. New instructors may begin at approximately $18/hour during training and onboarding , with opportunities to increase to $20-$25/hour based on performance.
